The Ophthalmology department at Willows Referral Service is pleased to offer a
1-year ophthalmology internship training programme.
The successful candidate will receive intensive training in clinical skills essential for successful management of veterinary patients with ophthalmic disease, both medical and surgical, and will undertake directed learning relating to the eye and its diseases. This programme is intended to allow veterinarians to expand their ophthalmic knowledge base and skills in preparation for future training in an ophthalmology residency. The role will also involve weekend working on a 1:3 rota to help alongside the primary care out of hours team, with compensatory days off given for weekend days worked.
Applicants should be highly motivated and have excellent communication skills; a very good command of spoken and written English is essential. A minimum of two years’ postgraduate experience in practice is essential and previous completion of a one-year rotating internship or its equivalent would be preferred. The successful candidate must be able to work with a multi-disciplinary team which is dedicated to the provision of the highest possible level of care for our patients, clients, and referring veterinary surgeons.
