Internship – Vet Eye Care, Cambridgeshire

Veterinary Ophthalmology Internship

Vet Eye Care is looking for an Ophthalmology intern to join our team in March 2024. The ideal candidate must have a strong interest in Veterinary Ophthalmology, with previous experience in general practice in the UK or have completed a 12-month rotating internship at a multidisciplinary referral hospital. Further qualifications (i.e., post-graduate certificate in ophthalmology) are not required to apply for this position.

Vet Eye Care is a family owned, independent Veterinary Ophthalmology clinic, located in Cambridgeshire (Yaxley). With excellent connection to central London, Cambridge, Nottingham and Leicester, the area provides many opportunities to explore. Our purpose-built clinic has been open since October 2023 and due to the increasing caseload, we are looking to expand. Our clinic is built and equipped to the highest standards and consists of three consulting rooms, two operating theatres, a large open-plan prep area, an imaging suite and separate dog and cat wards.

The successful candidate will be working alongside our team of one Ophthalmology Specialist (Dip ECVO), three registered vet nurses, our receptionist and practice manager to help with the day-to-day workflow and case management. The successful candidate is expected to work a 40-hour week with limited out-of-hours and on-call cover. The position benefits from private health and dental insurance, 25-days holiday (plus bank holidays), birthday leave, covered professional fees (RCVS and VDS), a generous CPD allowance and a salary of £35,000 and comes with a 12-month fixed-term contract.

For informal enquiries or to apply for the position please contact our practice manager Rachael Geraghty (rachael.vec@gmail.com). Your application should be accompanied by your CV, a letter of intent and email contacts for two referees. To be eligible to apply for this position, you must be registered with RCVS (MRCVS) and be eligible to work in the UK. The deadline for applications is the 26th of January 2024 and the shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the end of January to arrange an interview in person.
